FINAL | Girls Basketball Open - Round 1

Best wishes to our varsity girls basketball team who begins their playoff journey tonight in Gilbert to take on 5A #1 Williams Field! Special shout out and thank you to Mr. Verdugo, Coach Fanning and Coach Mike Dyer who all spoke to our team yesterday to provide them guidance heading into tournament play.
Coach Dyer is retired from coaching after having coached the Marana High School's girls basketball program with a career record of 400-151 with 9 region titles and 12 league/state championships. Coach Dyer is also known for advocating for female athletes by arguing that scheduling practices disadvantaged female athletes. Coach Dyer is responsible for bringing attention to the broader issue of gender equity in sports. Thank you for making time for our girls basketball program!
