Proud Principal of San Cayetano Elementary School

I am honored to serve as the proud principal of San Cayetano Elementary School. This school year marks my tenth year in this role, and I couldn’t be more excited to continue this journey. I have been a part of the SCV35 School District for the past 15 years and am deeply rooted in this community that has shaped so much of who I am.

My educational journey began right here—I attended Calabasas Middle School and graduated from Rio Rico High School. It is incredibly meaningful to now serve the district that played such a significant role in my own upbringing.

Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of serving in many roles, including kindergarten, first, and third grade teacher, reading specialist, and dean of students. Each position helped shape my perspective and deepened my commitment to providing a safe, caring, and academically rich environment for all students.

At San Cayetano, we are a staff who CARES, and students LEARN. We take immense pride in the work we do and the strong relationships we build with our school community. We are absolutely a team and believe that we cannot be successful without the meaningful partnerships we have with families, staff, and community members. Together, we create a supportive environment where every child can thrive.

I am a proud native of Nogales and Rio Rico, Arizona, a mother of three incredible children, and a grandmother! My husband, a fellow Rio Rico graduate, currently serves our community as Deputy Chief with the Rio Rico Medical and Fire Department. All three of our children have attended SCV35 schools—two of whom are graduates—making our connection to this district truly a family legacy.

I am immensely grateful for the teachers, mentors, and relationships that supported me throughout my own academic journey. Their kindness and guidance inspired me to enter the field of education, with the goal of paying it forward to the next generation.

One of my proudest moments as a community member was attending the 2024–2025 Rio Rico High School graduation. Standing among 300 graduates and their families, I was filled with emotion and pride—especially knowing that “Hawk blood” runs through their veins.

It is a privilege to be part of both the SCV35 family and our beloved Cheetah community here at San Cayetano- We have an incredible Staff! I hope you and your family feel the same sense of pride, belonging, and connection to our school. Each day, I am reminded that by nurturing and investing in our children, we are building a stronger, brighter future for our entire community!

Warm regards,

Mimi Renteria, Principal
